Do you know which baby things to buy? When
you walk down the aisles of a baby store it can be quite confusing.
There are tons of baby products on the market. Many of which you really
do need and many of which are really not needed at all. This article
will tell you two of the most important baby things to buy and two that
you can steer clear of and save your money.
The first baby thing you must have before your baby comes is diapers, and lots of them. When we were expecting our first we had purchased a small pack of diapers. I never imagined that my baby would need to be changed at least 12 times a day. Yes, newborn babies need to be changed on average about 10 to 12 times a day. That is a lot of diapers. Needless to say we had to make a diaper run within a couple of days.
The second thing that you must have is a place for the baby to sleep. I am not trying to insult your intelligence by stating the obvious. I am really trying to get you to really think about where you want your baby to sleep. There are a few options such as bassinets, co-sleepers, cribs and even an infant car seat. Really think about whether or not you want your new baby in your room, maybe in the bed with you, next to your bed, or maybe not in your room at all? The answer will help you figure out which item to buy.
The first baby item you do not need to buy is a wipes warmer. Do not waste your money. While I know it sounds like a good idea to use a nice warm wipe instead of a cold wipe on your baby's bottom, your baby really will not care. Not to mention the warm air is a breeding ground for germs, and you do not want that for your baby.
The second thing you should not buy is a bunch of newborn clothes. Chances are you will not use them. Newborn clothes only fit babies up to 8 pounds. I am a very small person, carried my babies small and everything. My smallest baby was 8 pounds 12 ounces. My kids never wore a single newborn outfit. Even if your baby is the average 7 pound baby, those newborn clothes will probably only fit for a couple of weeks. Your baby will be just as happy to wear a sleeper and be wrapped in a blanket.
